Description
Glycerin is a clear, colorless, odorless, and viscous liquid that is widely used as a sweetener and humectant (moisture-retaining agent) in food and beverages.
In the wine and distilled products industry, glycerin is often added as a finishing agent to enhance the mouthfeel and overall sensory experience of the product. The amount of glycerin used is typically small, around 0.5-1% v/v, and it is added towards the end of the production process to avoid any adverse effects on fermentation or distillation.
Some studies have also shown that the addition of glycerin can increase the perceived sweetness of a wine or spirit, which can be beneficial for certain styles of products.
Stir 1 oz of Finishing Formula (Glycerine) into 750 ml (26 fl. oz) of liqueur or 30 ml per 6 U.S. gallons of finished wine.
